Primary Years Programme
The PYP offers an inquiry-based, transdisciplinary curriculum framework that builds conceptual understanding. It is a student-centered approach to education for children aged 3-12. It reflects the best of educational research, thought leadership and experience derived from IB World Schools.
I. Primary Section curriculum
The Primary Section strictly follows the Chinese national curriculum standards and PYP standards requirements. It offers six subjects:
Language (Chinese and English), Mathematics, Steam, Social Studies, Arts, and Personal, social and physical education. The transdisciplinary learning is implemented by subject integration through Unit of Inquiry. At the same time, a variety of school-based activity courses are offered as well.

Middle Years Programme
Since its establishment, MYP Program of Guangdong Country Garden School has always been closely combined with international programs and compulsory national curriculum. It has been exploring all the way and accumulated rich experience in integration of courses.
In the IB document of “MYP: From principles into practice”, it is clearly stipulated that MYP program has eight subject groups: Mathematics, Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Individuals and Societies, Sciences, Physical and Health Education, Arts and Design. According to the principle of balanced MYP curriculum, the Junior High School has offered a full course of eight subjects. At the same time, IB encourage schools successfully integrate the IB philosophy within their school’s unique context, we have been exploring the integration of national curriculum with the requirements of the MYP program. We set up the courses and class hours in accordance with the requirements of the national education, and utilize the teaching materials and class hours stipulated by Foshan Education Bureau for compulsory education. In terms of embodying international schools and completing IB curriculum, we have increased English class hours to improve the language ability of students.
The integration of national compulsory education and MYP program in Junior High School of Guangdong Country Garden School is mainly reflected in the integration of curriculum, teaching and learning and assessment.

II. Curriculum Structure
“Subject course" takes into account the dual curriculum requirements of MYP project and national compulsory education curriculum, aiming to help students acquire knowledge and cultivate ability through active inquiry learning;
“Activity course" is the extension and expansion of subject course learning, which aims to guide students to use knowledge, deepen understanding and develop skills through lively experiential learning;
“Compulsory course" aims to meet the basic learning requirements necessary for students' comprehensive development, and ensure the basic knowledge and basic ability;
“Elective Course" aims to meet the selective needs of students for further personalized development, and cultivate their learning interest and personality.
Diploma Programme
The Diploma Programme is a rigorous pre-university course of study designed for students in the 16 to 19 age range. It is a broad-based two-year course that aims to encourage students to be knowledgeable and inquiring, but also caring and compassionate. There is a strong emphasis on encouraging students to develop intercultural understanding, open-mindedness, and the attitudes necessary for them to respect and evaluate a range of points of view.
As the world’s top acknowledged international education programme, DP is widely recognized and respected by top universities from more than 140 countries and regions worldwide and its graduates win favor with the world’s top universities. Evidence suggests that higher rates of DP students go to top 20 universities and higher education study than non-IB students.
The course is presented as six academic areas enclosing a central core. Students study two modern languages (or a modern language and a classical language), a humanities or social science subject, an experimental science, mathematics and one of the creative arts.In each of the academic areas students have flexibility in making their choices, which means they can choose subjects that particularly interest them and that they may wish to study further at university.

International Genral Certificate of Secondary Education
IGCSE is the most popular international qualification for 14 to 16 year olds. The programme prepares students for A Level. It gives students more options to reach their full potential, explore a wider world and develop lifelong learning skills. The programme offers a flexible and stimulating curriculum with balanced and complementary theoretical and practical knowledge. Our school curriculum includes 18 subject courses.
A Levels Programme
(Trusted British Education System)
Cambridge Advanced is typically for learners aged 16 to 19 years who need advanced study to prepare for university and higher education. It offers leaners Cambridge International AS & A Level, which help them develop independent study skills and prepare them for life. Curiosity and enthusiasm for life-long learning are fostered during the process.
A Level is a two-year programme for students from the age of 16 to 19, and is known as the 'Trusted British Education System'. The programme aims to help learners gain access to leading universities, especially G5 universities. The programme endeavors to cultivate talents who are grateful, brave, responsible, committed and confident. Our AL curriculum covers a variety of courses. Students can select courses based on their interests, competencies, personal and professional needs.
Advanced Placement
(College level course taught in high school - a ticket to Ivy League and top-tier universities)
The Advanced Placement (AP) programme was developed by the College Board. The programme aims to provide competent and challenging coursework, which attracts a great number students around the world, particularly Chinese students who admire Ivy League and top-tier universities in the United States. The programme offers college-level classes and exams to high school students, allowing them to get high school credits and use them for their high school graduation and college application. Many (more than 3600) international universities accept AP scores for placement or credit. Good scores in AP course work indicate to admission staff that a student has achieved a recognized standard in that subject area, serving as a guarantee for Ivy League colleges (Harvard University, Yale University, Princeton University, Stanford University and MIT) as well as Cambridge and Oxford University. Our school was among the first batch of schools approved to offer the AP Capstone Diploma program. The curricula cover English, Math and Computer Science, History and Social Sciences, and Sciences and Arts, which allow students to choose courses based on their own interests and personal needs.
