CHARACTERISTICS OF GCGS
1.Global campus with a global vision
Guangdong Country Garden School embraces global educational resource to build an international campus in which students are cultivated with "Chinese identity, national pride; global vision, leadership character.”The school has formed partnerships with 18 renowned primary and secondary schools in nine countries, providing exchange learning experience for students and teachers. The school also invites university admission officers and professors to give lectures, and students from Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and other top universities in the world to hold workshops. Our alumni are all over the world, some of them have become leaders in the industry. They are willing to return to school to share their experience of learning, working and living abroad with our current students.
2.Leadership character and national pride
Guangdong Country Garden School has developed a series of leadership courses to enable students to excel from the ordinary. Courses such as the Everest Climbing, Peak Square, Exploration Square, English Village, Western Food Etiquette, Hiking Inquiry and Service Week, The Belt and Road Cycling Activity, World Culture Europe Cycling Activity and the China Week, bring together action and adventure, service and responsibility, cross-disciplinary learning and cooperation. They are interesting and challenging to train our students into future leaders.
3.Certified International Programmes Education
Guangdong Country Garden School offers six major international programs, covering all mainstream curriculums and the essence of international education.
GCGS is the first school in mainland China to implement all three major programs of IB PYP, IN MYP, IB DP.
From ClE, the British education leader, GCGS provides two main programmes of it, IGCSE and A-Level. In 2015, the school became one of the three executive committees of the South China Regional Alliance of Cambridge. ln 2016, it entered into a contract with the Cambridge Assessment International Education and became the first Cambridge partner in South China.
GCGS is one of the first two schools providing authorised AP Capstone diploma program in South China.
lt is an unparalleled achievement for GCGS to lead schools with three major international program for 15 years. With the refined international education system, students are able to choose the most suited curriculums according to their individual characteristics and needs.
4.STEAM education with Al leading the way
Guangdong Country Garden School is an experimental school of the Ministry of Education for STEAM Education and Maker Education. lt has built a STEAM Laboratory (with a Robot Centre) and cooperated with the world's top Maker Education institutes to prepare the students for the arrival of the Al era. The school offers Design and Technology courses from the fourth grade of primary school. The labs are equipped with nearly a hundred 3D printers and laser cutting machines, with which students canturn their designs into finished products. The school has achieved brilliant results in the model design activities for cars ships and aircraft, with a current student winner of the International Turbojet Master Competition, Asia Championship. The “Library lntelligent Book Collection Device" designed and produced by our fifth-grade student won the first prize in the 33rd Foshan Youth Science and Technological lnnovation Competition. The "Intelligent Parking System" won the first prize in the Foshan Primary and Secondary Maker Competition and Exhibition.
In addition, the school also offers pastoral courses to cultivate students' interest and ability in exploring the nature.
5.Varied CAS Activities
Guangdong Country Garden School has developed integrated CAS activities from elementary school to senior high school, covering creation, action and service. Hundreds of student associations have been established. At the same time, Sports Festivals, Science and Technology Festivals, Language Festivals, Art Festivals and Film Festivals are held annually to help students develop their interests and enhance their specialties.
6.Leveled Classes, Personalized Teaching
The primary school UOl programme focuses on inquiry and nurtures in students the 10 attributes of lB Learner Profile, The English curriculum adopts stratified teaching insmall class size, and is carried out by our international teachers and Chinese teachers, ensuring that every student gets comprehensive attention in junior high school. We adopt a combination of stratified class system and in-class differentiated teaching, with SEN sessions to ensure the continuous progress of each student. Our cross-subject and inter-disciplinary learning method not only benefits students' academic performance but also help them achieve lifelong learning. In high school, more than 200 subjects are available for selection. Students learn what they love and what they want to learn, and every student has his/her own unique class schedule.
